About Tanya
Tanya Wischerath is a visual artist and painter whose work weaves together the real and the imagined. Trained in classical atelier painting in Florence, Italy, Tanya blends traditional techniques with contemporary sensibilities, creating richly textured worlds where organic forms, human figures, and fantastical landscapes converge.
Her paintings often explore themes of transformation, resilience, and interconnectedness, drawing inspiration from natural systems like fungi and stone as metaphors for human experience. Tanya’s practice spans large-scale murals, intimate works on paper, and collaborative projects—including the illustration of a complete 78-card Tarot deck, a project realized after years of dedicated work.
In addition to her studio practice, Tanya publishes a quarterly hand-made zine by mail, nurturing a tactile and personal connection with her community of collectors and peers. Whether working on public art, personal mythologies, or experimental teaching, she approaches her practice with curiosity, craft, and a belief in the power of art to hold complexity, memory, and transformation.
